The spotlight on Day 6 went to a fallen community pillar – Maseipati Masilo

In the midst of compiling my list of the women’s month appreciation series, sad news befell me about the passing of Comrade Maseipati Masilo.

This Sowetan community pillar and activist was mom to a good friend of mine, Hope Masilo.

Mme Maseipati had an impact on the lives of the many school children who she taught, political organization members’ lives and social movements that she stood for and championed. Her beautiful, warm and welcoming family, community and myself are deeply honoured to have felt your touch, power, presence and influence.

As we bid her farewell on 6th August 2017, the appreciation series paid special tributes to her and her contributions.

Relive the moment with me below.

Day 6 of my Women’s Appreciation Series and today, I pay homage to a woman of the Word, a pillar not only to her beautiful daughters but to the community as well.

A struggle activist.

The voice for many voiceless and faceless causes in and around the community, your contributions towards making the lives of those most closest to you and for fighting tirelessly to correct the wrongs and injustices of the past will forever characterize you.

Maseipati, thank you for bringing bubbly Hope Masilo to the world for us. A young, smart, intelligent and spiritual woman who knows what she wants and what she stands for. A very bold, confident and supportive soul that I am blessed to have around my circle. All your hardwork in raising her has matured and sculptured itself into the woman that she is today.

You are a legend and you have done your part, quite well. And will continue living on.

Good night lovely soul and thank you for all you have done.
