Day 17 – Media mogul in the making, Kefilwe Mello

I love Soweto. Not only because it is a township that gave me an awesome childhood but because it is trully filled with the most talented of people.

From musicians to soccer stars, history-makers and legends to artists. You name them, Soweto’s got them.

On this day 17th of my writing series, I celebrated an artist. Someone who I look up to, I know quite well and someone who is overloaded with a talented soul. My home-girl and all day, anytime celebrity.

This woman is brilliant. Brilliant in character, personality, drive, ambition and in her crafts. This TV presenter and actress has all the makings of an individual who works hard, is a go-getter and hustler like no other and as such is surely headed one way only, and that is straight to the top.

Kefilwe Elizabeth Mello and I were regulars at the local high school public speaking competitions and from then on, it was clear to me that she was powerful. An eloquent, poised and beautiful articulator. A story-teller.

It came as no suprise to me that I discovered that she had bagged herself an online TV presenting, an acting and a voice-over gigs all at once.

I continue to wish her well, boast about her achievements, celebrate and look up to her as she one phenomenal example for all the young believers in all townships with big dreams.

I pay a special thank you to you for helping me believe in myself.

Here is a recap of the post for my Day 17 of the women’s month appreciation series.

Day 17 of my Women’s Month Appreciation series and today goes out to this superstar from Soweto.

I don’t remember where we actually met but both of us were regulars at the school district public speaking competitions back in high school and I think that’s where we got to be friends and I mean from there, it was clear that you were force to be reckoned with.

Your achievements at the moment are as a result of the many years you spent preparing and working hard to hone the skill.

I know you treasure Bonang but I feel there is something extra special about you and the world is yet to experience your fire on a big stage. One day.

She debuted earlier on this year with a cameo role on Generations – The Legacy and set the whole township on a craze. We were not suprised but overjoyed that one of our own is given a chance to shine!

By far, your biggest achievements have to be the detective role you snatched from thousands who came to audition for it on season 1 of the SABC 2 drama series ‘Bone of my bones’. And I will not forget your ponytail there, it was everything!.

You were the voice over artist for the veey first and local edition of Dinner Date SA on SABC 3.  Milestones on levels I tell you. Thank you for reviving my hopes of free-to-air viewing.

Also hosted her very own show, on Youtube, a very successful season 1 of the movie show ‘SA Box Office’. Your success is undoubted and these are only just stepping stones for you.

You are a true epitome of a hard worker and media personality legend and mogul in the making.

Please don’t forget us, and me in particular, when you’re at the top neh? My support for you and your work ethic is a guaranteed given. Any time of day or night because I know where it all comes from and I know what it means to you.

Keep shining, always and continue showing young girls from our hometown & across the country how it is all possible!
#DreamItPossible

A very happy women’s month to you!
