Our political climate is a dynamic one, ever changing with no two days ever being the same.
In a time of political blurred lines, factional battles and corruption allegations, I find it heart-warming to know that there are politicians who are all for justice and moral conscience.
Politicians who are not shy to speak for truth, to stand their ground and to speak out about uncomfortable topics.
Dr Makhosi Busisiwe Khoza is one such politician in my view.
A very strong-willed and minded politician who epitomises what her appointment to parliament means – serving South Africans and having their best interests at heart.
She boasts an incredible educational background and wealth of experience in the public administration sector and although she may be going through a lot of backlash from her political party at the moment, I celebrated her for her bravery in all that she stands for.
Day 19 of my Women’s Month Appreciation series and today’s post goes out to this feisty woman of noble character.
An ANC Member of Parliament, boasting an impressive CV with over 20 years in the private and public sector. A Master’s degree holder in Social Science (Policy and Development studies) and a PhD holder in Public Administration. She is currently studying for another master’s degree in Finance at the University of London. What a woman!
Fired recently from her post of chairperson of the Public service and Administration committee for no apparent reason. For standing up for herself and the best interests of this country.
A fiesty intellectual politician. One who stands for what is just, fair and credible.
I first saw her fiestiness in action in parliament when she grilled fellow ANC MP Faith Muthambi over the shenanigans at the public broadcaster, unapologetically. For a case that was clearly questionable, a minister whose actions were doubted, always, even from her own political party. She felt it her duty to speak up and attack as opposed to keeping quiet. I have not even touched on her stance regarding the vote of no confidence debacle.
A tough woman of her word. Unshaken, even when her life is being threatened. And why is the police even allowing such stances on a woman in this country on women’s month?
I must say, it moves me to know that there are still people of her character and nature in the rulling party and that leaves me with hope, for the movement of the people.
A very happy women’s month to you!
Dr Makhosi Busisiwe Khoza
