Day 21 – Social change angel Modjadji Selowe

When people speak of social change agents, only one woman’s name comes to mind. A woman who walks, talks and lives the ethos of making a difference.

A woman who is passionate about youth issues and challenges and is never shy to tackle them hands-on, even if it means she needs to be in the battlefield alone. A committed woman to all the causes she supports and spearheads. Someone who effortlessly allows others to equally partake and have their piece of the difference-making pie.

I run out of adjectives to best describe Modjadji M. Selowe’s strength, unshakable spirit, drive and passion for youth development hence I feel as someone who has royal blood in her, ‘Her Majesty and ‘Her Highness are words that best describe her. Your name and contributions will always be remembered and written in the lives and hearts of the many you have touched. I am so honoured to serve under your steadfast leadership. I celebrate your work and all that you stand for.

For motivating and inspiring me beyond the words themselves, I salute and honour you.

Day 21 of my Women’s Month Appreciation series and today goes out to this visionary leader, change agent and community development initiatives champion.

I worked with this powerhouse for many years while still volunteering at Ikamva Youth SA and was just amazed at her energy and her ‘never-dying’ spirit. And to date, you’re still a youth development champion who knows how to always get things done. Someone who puts in her all to whatever project she sets her mind to.

I really admire your passion in youth and community development issues, especially in and around the community you come from. And I really am amazed at how almost impossible it is for you to allow things around you to easily get you down. In the years that I have known you, you have always risen above the many obstacles that presented themselves along this journey towards making a difference in the lives of young people and I admire your resilience, persistence and courage.

A woman who not only is socially aware but is equally creative and talented. Currently a formidable force at Columba Leadership, a company whose main aim is to empower young people with the necessary leadership skills through youth engagement and transformational school projects. Talk about working for a cause that represents who you are!

A highly educated woman with powerful insights into education and training.

A founder of Lebone Rivoningo Developments, an NPO that tackles youth mentorship and personal developmental programmes, a baby whom I, together with the team, am fortunate and honoured to be tasked with its nurturing and direction. My life will be geared towards making this baby mature and grow into a powerful machine of changing lives and dire conditions in and around our communities wherever we can possibly reach one day.

I thank you for giving us space to and room via this platform to help make a change.

Thank you for never giving up or giving in. For your optimism, patience, persistence and well-rounded formidable leadership. I am very proud to serve under and to be associated with a brand of your stature.

If I haven’t celebrated and appreciated you before, allow me to do that today and beyond.

You really are out of this world & deserving of the praise for all that you do, daily without growing weary. You are a positive influence to the kids and one day, you will be invaluably rewarded for the seeds you continuously plough to those souls and I aspire for the same and learn a lot from you on that.

A very happy women’s month to you!
