As the month of women drew to a close, I decided to keep the few remaining days to the women that are and quite close to me. Left the best for last, some may say. These are the women who have shaped my life in all ways and forms, women who have guided and supported me through it all and who would still easily give their vote of confidence in me no matter what.
I owe my childhood memories to these three beautiful women who occupied the Day 28 spot on my women’s month appreciation series.
My sisters.
Women who each have a story to tell and who play a pivotal role in my life. I am very blessed to have grown up with predominantly women in the family as that has ensured that I know and appreciate the value of women in general.
These three, my ‘tri-partite’ have been through it all and still live to tell the tale of how they easily conquered those obstacles. Mentally strong women, full of dedication, experience and wisdom. Mothers to my beautiful nephews and nieces. I must say, they have made me an uncle at a very tender age.
But I love their spirits of humility, strength, ‘never-giving up’ ethics, unity and hardwork, which they have each taught me. It’s for those traits that I have learnt so much from them and they easily take on the role model statures in my life.
Here is why they mean so much to me. As Women’s month draws to an end this week, allow me to give you a bit of access to some close women in my life who will take centre stage these last few days.
Day 28 of my Women’s Month Appreciation series and today I pay my special acknowledgement, gratitude and appreciation to my beautiful and stylish cousins of mine, who are technically my sisters, for all their amazing achievements and for what their presence means to my life and world.
Talk about the presence of a lot of beautiful and special colour around me. I really could not have chosen better family members to grow alongside with than these ladies. These ladies practically raised me and ensured I had a memorable childhood.
I look at all of them and I see the true presence of God in this world. I thank God for all the lessons, experiences, laughs and serious talks that we have each shared and I appreciate every single contribution they have each had to my life. Your support in me means the world.
Mothers to bright, young and beautiful little nephews and nieces of mine, who I treasure so much. Ja, you all made me a very young-looking uncle so soon in this journey of life but the honour beats the humour anyday. Being an uncle to your little ones is the one hat I pride myself in wearing, and a responsibility that I know I need to live up and step up to.
Karabo Mpinda, I think your life story is beyond incredible and to see the type of strong, bold and confident woman you are today is one of God’s many testimonies. I see you and your achievements and I just get moved instantly. Many don’t know the lengths with which you had to go through to heal, breathe and conquer beyond that pretty face and awesome dance moves of yours. I do and I acknowledge your bravery, strength and confidence. Words really fail me when I describe the kind of positive force you are to my world. May God continue guiding and shining upon you over your life plans, marriage and in raising your little one well.
Mamodupi Mzila, we have experienced a lot of moments together, grown up practically together and I have grown and learnt a lot from your encouragements and positive influences. And I continue to. I remember when you completed your matric and how we woke up early to get the paper and how we rejoiced shortly thereafter. We’ve been rejoicing ever since actually come to think of it. Very supportive, hands-on, determined and smart. I like how you always have a plan up your sleeve and a Plan B whenever we get stuck. Continue flourishing in your career, future endervours and in raising your little one. One of my biggest cheerleaders and someone who always goes the extra mile especially for me, I thank you.
And finally, to the eldest, most mature and wise of them all, Lindiwe Dube, The most active cousin of mine that I know, and an awesome mother with the eldest grandchild in the family. A body to die for! Lol. Your humility and kind-hearted character makes you a winner with most people and very approachable. Most won’t know what good joke cracker you are, even at one go. Very outgoing, social, fun to be around with and motivated soul. Your wisdom speaks for itself and thank you for teaching me independence, asking for help and patience. Continue being the awesome older sister you are who always shows up and helps out. You are appreciated and honoured for all your efforts.
I write this post in loving memory of Nelisiwe and Maboni who were a crucial force in this pack of very strong women around me as well and remember them and their contributions as I celebrate you three.
Will work hard to be the best uncle I can be to your little ones and to try to always be there for all of them and you three. My heart and love.
My world is complete at the sight of you all and my heart skips a beat at your thought of your happiness and you all achieving great things together.
Today, I celebrate you and thank you for all the womderful years!
A very happy women’s month to you!
