Day 31 – My mother Johanna Mzili

The list simply would not be complete without the woman who started it all. My beautiful and absolutely phenomenal Venda Queen who is my world. I feel that don’t appreciate her enough for her strength, her raising me without complaints and for all that she is. I shall allow this to be one of the many ways I would like to pay my special gratitude to her.

A rock, provider and pillar to all her children. More than a friend and everything in this planet for me.

As I end off my women’s appreciation series, I allowed the best inspiration  in my life to wrap it all up and no better way than to bring it home where the magic happens. The list traversed communities, universities, space, overseas, media personalities, philanthropists to my home (where there is so much love, warmth, acceptance and belonging).

To all mothers out there who have sacrifised so much of themselves to ensure that their own do not have to. The mothers who are heroes to their families, mothers who teach not only by their words but through their actions. Mothers who are living role models to their families. Mothers who, win or lose, cheer their kids on no matter what. I celebrate you all with this post. You help keep the life fire in us burning.

Day 31 of my Women’s Month Appreciation series and as I bid this year’s women’s month farewell, I end this series with an appreciation message for my mom.

I don’t know if there is ever a woman who I treasure dearly like her nor one who holds so much significance to my life than her. A woman who has consistently shown me and my siblings unconditional love without expecting anything in return. A woman who has made sure, for all the days of her existence, that I never go to bed hungry. The woman who has clothed me and has given me a decent roof over my head for all these years.

I am proud of all her achievements and all that she had to overcome so that I get to experience and enjoy the kind of life I do now. For enduring all that she had to, so that I together with my siblings, didn’t have to. For being a mother-figure not only to her own kids but to others as well. I admire her for this trait in particular that exemplifies the type of woman she is. I also credit her for her many other roles of anchoring and nurturing that she executes with ease particularly to others. I really don’t mind sharing her…

For giving birth to me, this big head of mine must have been a challenge and a half, but she went through it, raised me well, affirmed and showed me an incredible form of love and childhood. I know she missed out on some of my great moments at school but I have since grown to understand that she was busy fighting struggles of her own and working hard for all of us at home to always have food on the table and a decent shelter. Thank you for providing for me.

We tell you all of our problems day in and out and she always goes the extra mile to assist yet even today, I hardly ever hear her complain about how difficult her own life is. I think it’s about time we make life more about her for a change from now onwards.

My comedic genius!

My personal self-appointed financial, relationships and career advisor.

A dear friend of mine, my all-time hero and life coach.

God knew exactly what he had in mind when creating you, He had the soul and heart of a Goddess, a Warrior and a Peace-maker to help guide us as we venture into this thing called life and I must say, her presence in this world has made my life a remarkable journey on its own. I cannot picture how it all or I could have turned out had it not been for her.

I appreciate you mom for being my role model and for the awesome human being that you are. Blessed and honoured to call  you my mother.

You are one incredible woman!

And that’s a wrap peeps, a whole month (31 days) of phenomenal women on the Women’s Month Appreciation series done and dusted. I gave myself a challenge and accomplished it. I learnt so much during it all, had to double up on facts here and there but was a pleasure having to compile it all for your viewing.

Your engagements and thoughts on the entire list are warmly welcome.

Happy October Month!
